Posted by Clubmaker as Custom Fit Golf Clubs
hello,
I am going to start playing golf for the first time and was wonder whether I should buy a golf club set or get custom fitted. I’ve never played golf, never actually swung a driver, wedge, iron, or putter, so what should i do? thank you!!

1Club fitting is for everyone and it actually benefits the higher handicaps exponentially more than for lower. If you’ve never even swung though, I would recommend getting a few lessons first using the rental clubs rather than spend any major money just to see if you like the game. Once youve done that, go get a fitting before you purchase any clubs. At many places, the fitting is free with purchase of a set.

2well as a newbie to golf you may want to rent to start.if you are serious about the game then i would suggest a 8 piece irons set and a driver.3,5 wood. Also you might want to try hybrid clubs rather than the long irons 3 iron and up as they are easier to hit and have a little more loft to help you get the ball up.if you are serious about the game and play for a while.Fitted clubs are for the serious player as it is not the cheapest option.Good luck!

3No, if u are 5′7"-6"3", I said you can just use a standard spec. Other than that range u probably want to extend or shorten ur shaft a little bit. As a beginner, u will probably change ur swing everyday. u will be able too tell what spec u want to adjust lie/loft/length/grip size if u keep play. Don’t worry about get fitted, before u have much preference. There are the reasons why club makers called "standard spec". It suit most people.

4As a beginner i would suggest to take a lesson to know the basics like proper stance, grip, and other stuff and if you think you’re really into it i would suggest for you to buy a decent clubs so you’ll get used to it everytime you practice and play as for club fitting as long as you have an average height you dont have since you’re still a beginner maybe in the future when you think you’ve improved and you ready to get a game improvement clubs that’s the time you can get your club custom fit.
