Here is a question from one of our readers.
Does Slazenger make a good ladies golf club for beginners?
I would further qualify this question as to what golf clubs are good for ladies who are just starting to play golf?
The answer comes by looking at the difference between men’s and ladies’ golf clubs. Men’s clubs are generally longer, are heavier, and have shafts that are stiffer than ladies clubs. This is due to the fact that men are generally stronger than women, especially when you are just starting out playing golf. The more flexible shaft create more power and therefore more distance for the ladies.

1Yes, they’re fine. As a beginner, the quality of your first clubs is not so important, rather building a good swing is critical. Once you are able to hit the ball with some degree of skill, then move up to better clubs. You’d hate to drop $600 bucks on a good set and find you loathe the game (please speak to my wife about this…) but a $200 set will be just fine.
Oh, yeah, take a lesson or two. It REALLY helps.

2A beginner can use almost any set of clubs. The sublte differences between different manufacturers won’t affect the play of someone just starting out. My advice would be not to overspend. About $200 to $250 would be about right. Once you improve, you’ll want to explore different types of clubheads, shafts, grips, etc. That will be the time to talk to a pro to select a stanndard set that you will keep for a few more years until you get to the point where you might want to have clubs custom made for your particular swing and ability.
