Can I use sandpaper instead of adhesive grip tape to my skateboard?

I bought the grip tape on the sneaker king for $ 6. It's just me. My parents laughed at me why they said it was just sand paper and we could buy sticker paper 10x a lot of sand for the prizes. Please let me know if this is possible. Btw sneaker king is a good place to buy Griptape? Sorry I spent 4.45 on Griptape

I do not think you can buy it in the right size, even if you were to remove their shoes may and put them all in the first or second day, you skate
