Hey Slick , congratulations on starting up this game - it is one you will enjoy for life .
As for being fitted - really you are to early in your development to require a fitting , unless you are really tall or short , have really long or short arms , don't worry about it until you can consistently break 80 - that is when you will need to get fitted .
If You are buying new clubs , fitiing should be included at no extra charge - any reputable retailer should not charge you more for fitting .
Your coach should tell you that your game improves with practice - not buying new equipment .

Concentrate on improving your shot making with the sticks you own. Unless you are a " shorty " who has to grip the club at the lower part of the leather, don't worry about fitting. You improve your game through practice, determining which part costs you the most wasted strokes. Work on that until you show significant improvement. Now determine the next area of weakness and eradicate that, etc. Once you approach the single digit handicap territory, save your money and get fitted for a new set of clubs.

Get fit from the beginning- having clubs that aren't right for you will only encourage bad habits that aren't easily broken (been down that road).

Places charge different rates- it won't hurt at all to call around. In your case, it's usually cheaper with retro-fitting (you'd have to pay for the service and the new shafts and grips, if applicable). The links below are all club fitter locators, mostly focusing on the SW area. I don't know how far they are away from Coachella Valley.

If you want to know where to do it and how much it costs search online and you will be able to find all of that out, or at least a phone number that you can call and find out. If you want to get fit and you think it would help you then you should do it. However you may find out that the clubs you have are not right for you. They can bend the heads of the irons to fit your swing plane, but if the shafts are to stiff or not stiff enough for you, all that anyone can do is re shaft them. Depending upon what type of shaft you want, and then you add grips and the cost of getting all of put together for you, you can probably buy a new set for about the same price. The same holds true for your driver, except they usually cant bend the head. But again you may need a new shaft. As far as getting fit for what you have right now, the only thing that they will be able to change is the loft and lie angle on the irons. If you want to be custom fitted for all your clubs you are going to need to spend some money.
